Workshop: “Unsettling (Urban) Futures”, 14 November

Is the future still a thing? Which relations open up when thinking about “no future” and hopelessness as an old/new “structure of feeling,” to speak with Raymond Williams? On 14 November, 15.00-17.00 at REC C4.50A, the Department of Human Geography, Planning & International Development at the University of Amsterdam is organizing a workshop with Prof. Silvy Chakkalakal (University of Zurich) building on the intervention “Un/Doing Future, Unsettling Temporalization” (Chakkalakal and Ren, 2022) where we asked how is the future invented, planned, renounced and researched?

The discussion will traverse geography and anthropology, inviting researchers to an exchange about methods, as well as challenges you are faced with in dealing with the spatial and material, the theoretical and empirical. If you are interested, please send a short email with research title and abstract (max 200 words) to: j.y.ren@uva.nl until Oct 25.
